The 1992 Mouse Yoke! Convert a mouse into a flight yoke, oddly
Checking out the odd Mouse Yoke from 1992! Colorado Spectrum sold several flight simulator adjacent devices in the 90s but this is the weird one of the bunch. Clamp the base to a desk, strap in a computer mouse, slide in the shaft, and enjoy a realistic aircraft yoke! Possibly, in theory, sort of! A bizarre thing that is prime LGR Oddware indeed.

Intel Pocket PC Cam from 2000: Revisiting My First Digital Camera!
Переглядів 206 тис.14 днів тому
Revisiting this CS-630 from the year 2000! The Intel Pocket PC Camera is a glorified webcam with batteries when it comes down to it. But that simplicity made it an ideal introduction into shooting digital for 14-year-old me back in the day! So join me as I unbox a new one and revisit this toylike camera for the first time over two decades. ● Join as an LGR '486' or 'Pentium' member to access pe...
I bought a 25-year-old printer & regret EVERYTHING

I've made a huge mistake and ignored the first rule of vintage computing: NEVER buy an old inkjet printer, especially a 90s Canon. Yet here we are with a BJC-2000 color printer from 1999... in an ideal world this was gonna be a fun romp into Windows 95 Bubble Jet printing, plus a test of the IS-22 scanner cartridge. In reality though, everything about this thing sucks and is awful and that shou...

Revisiting UT2004 two decades later! This sequel to UT99 (er, UT2003?) from Epic Games and Digital Extremes was a staple of PC gaming in the 2000s, with the bombastic Onslaught mode being added to the classics of deathmatch, capture the flag, and so on. So let's review this classic FPS and dive into its predecessor, its gameplay, multiplayer, mods and more! ● LGR links: patreon.com/LazyGameRevi...

This is the first time in prob 20 years since ANYONE had mentioned Simtower. Legit thought like one of couple hundred ever played it. Loved that game to death. So cool too, my current office for work? Second story offices in a condo building with little cafe on floor level…my fav mix of tower. Also geez, SEGA. From that to Total War and more than a few stops in between. They basically saved pc strategy games in a big way for me at least. Here’s another example of it. And yes…I lump sims, sim city etc into strategy games, why? Typically isometric and manage something’s strategy. Whether life, business or warfare, all strategy to me.

As a long time user of MSFS since FS for Windows 95, the idea of mouse as a yoke isn't too far off, as MSFS ESP software has always been allowing "mouse as a yoke" as long as I know them. Just go to a sim session, right click and there you go. So it is not really a product tie-in, as it should make sense of MSFS' weird control choices - including Microsoft's own inventive aviation terms and radio phraseology. No doubt, it is a pretty unique way of controlling your plane, but that was a time when FPS games like Duke Nukem or Doom still haven't figured out WASD movement keys. MSFS for non-joystick / yoke owning users is: press keypad 4 for dialing left aileron input until full deflection, plane banks as progressively until user "Re-center the control surfaces" with keypad 5. And then level it off back by pressing keypad 6 to dial right aileron input as hard as they can. In a way, the control keys are like aileron trim. The Re-center also works for rudder, usually controlled by keypad 0 and keypad "Enter". The only thing it can't recenter is pitch elevator control, which are keypad 8 (down) and keypad 2 (up), trim up is keypad 1, trim down is keypad 3. Tapping your keys interchangeably is a trick to get "butter landing". It is all doable until PMDG releases their Boeing 737NG for MSFS 2002 back in 2003, which totally ignores keyboard input. At a time, I considered buying a laptop with pointing stick like those Thinkpads, so I can use it for MSFS. Today though with X-Plane, MSFS 2020, all with fully functioning 3D cockpit with more functions than all possible keyboard combinations (including shift, alt, ctrl, combination of two or three of them with several key presses) - you definitely need mouse to interact with cockpit objects. Plus, you can't help it, since MSFS allows you to just "F4" (full throttle) your way into massive prop torque - causing you to turn towards where the tangential forces of the prop spin is pushing you - which you have to counter with rudder and aileron input combination.

I love how passionate you are about it. I know you bring it up occasionally in your other vids, but seeing a whole video of you just being giddy about it is so entertaining, idk how I missed this one before. There's no way to describe how lifelong addicting this game is if you didn't grow up with it, but man, it never gets old. 2003/4 and UT3 were fun and all, but always felt less solid somehow than the original. There was just a certain level of "punchiness" that UT99 had. Can't believe it's almost been 25 years now since I looked at the original CD case in the back of the car. Also, fun fact: The Redeemer could actually hold 2 rounds if you were patient enough (and skilled enough to stay alive) to wait for it to respawn, or steal the other team's on CTF.
